On the morning of the next day, Galla secured a reservation at an intimate bistro only a few blocks from her apartment. She texted Elias to meet her there at eight, dressed to impress. Looking back at the images she had sent him the night before, she knew that he would be more than ready for their little date. It was the first time that she would be on one of those in the mortal realm. The very thought filled her with excitement. She went into her closet to select the clothes she would wear, thinking back onto what her mentor had told her about mortal dating.

“The act of courtship is one that is constantly changing in the mortal realm,” Bahmia had said, letting out a tired sigh. “I swear, they would barely manage to keep the same rituals for a month before they changed. It made studying them and observing the acts difficult. Now, some mortals seemed to have regressed into showing off their genitals after barely saying hello. While others send naked pictures as a sign of intimacy. I swear, it’s like they’ve gone back to being animals fornicating in the forests again. Just seduce whomever you desire to bed. Courtship is overblown.”

While Galla selected a short red dress from her collection, she had to believe that Bahmia might have been misguided in her thoughts. It seemed, well, romantic, in Galla’s eyes. The older books among the collections of the infernal spoke of romance in many ways. From soft-spoken love to devious trysts in the dead of night, it was something that intrigued her. If she was going to be here for a century, then she was at least going to give dating a try.

A set of black, lacy underwear accompanied the red dress, as with a set of black heels. For jewelry, she decided to keep it simple with a pair of stud diamond earrings and a silver wristwatch. Makeup was something that she would apply using her ability to change her appearance. She did not want to spend an hour fussing about with it . With her outfit selected, she couldn’t help but feel giddy. It was a new experience that she was greatly looking forward to.

The rest of the day was spent enjoying the luxury of her new, mortal life. She poured herself a cup of coffee, sipping at it while she enjoyed a tantalizing book all morning. In the afternoon, she soaked in her oversized bathtub with a glass of white wine, listening to soft guitar music, daydreaming about how the date would go. As the sun began to set, she got dressed in her clothes and changed her face to appear to be made-up. Her lips took on a tempting shade of scarlet, her eyes smokey, drawing the attention to her bright eyes. She even gave herself a light tan without a single tan line, a small treat for Elias later in the night.

Grabbing a small tote with her phone and keys, she set off for the restaurant.
